How Do I Love Thee Poetry Party #howdoilovetheepoetryparty

Poetry Party!

Blogging 201, your pace is kickin’ my butt! Today I was supposed to dive into social networking and before I even got a chance to get to it you’ve posted that it’s now time to learn more about events! What the heck, I’m already behind so skipping ahead, here I am, hours later, creating my first event,ย it’s the: How do I Love Thee Poetry Party!

Poets, you are invited to post a link to one of your poems on the topic of love or relationships (please no naughty pictures) on this one. Your poems can be as sweet and innocent or as lusty and erotic as you like, just keep your thumbnail images clean for this party. Let your words do the sweet talkin!

As with all parties, there are rules of etiquette.

1. No Naughty pictures.

2. Submit the link to your relevant poem

3. Please visit at least two party guests before your arrival and two after your arrival, leave them a nice compliment or begin a friendly discussion with them.

4. Let your followers know that you’re partying at Memee’s Musings and they’re invited to drop in and join the party! (sharing options occur after submission) ย Link back to me and of course if: ย You tweet me, I’ll tweet you… tweet, tweet!

5. Even if you don’t have a twitter account you can cut and paste the hashtag into your posting, category or blog tag… this is the unique tag I’ve created for our party: ย  ย #howdoilovetheepoetryparty

And as with all parties, they do have a beginning and an end. This party will end sometime February 20th… we all have real lives and responsibilities we’ll have to get back to. ย Around the middle of each month I will throw a poetry party, the theme will change each time so keep a look out for #memeespoetryparties and each month’s unique hashtag! ย You’ll want to use them both so we can all find and follow each other on Twitter.

So, that’s it, let’s let the world know we’re blogging and socializing and having a great party. The more people who join the party and invite guests the more new friends we may find coming through our doors!

How Do I Love Thee… Party On!

  1. Great idea. Unfortunately my poetry is as bad as my singing… So I will not be able to take part in this… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Mine is pretty bad too. I have found if I turn on instrumental music and don’t bind myself to rhyming things, they turn out kinda okay. I have three I did last year that I put in my best of 2014. After 40 years of trying to write poetry at least I’m starting to at least show a little improvement! LOL. I do reading other people’s poetry. And this event makes them do all the creative work… I just gotta organize and process it all so everyone wins! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. LOL… after I hit send I realized I should have mentioned my singing. But now as I read what I wrote, the same qualifies: Mine is pretty bad too! I have found if I turn on the music and don’t bind myself to getting the notes or words right, it turns out kinda okay… for me… alone… in my car… with the windows rolled up. ROFL!

  3. Sounds like a fun little idea, although I don’t have any poetry to directly link to momentarily. Oh well. What can one do? Maybe I should write one on the fly?

    1. Jim, thanks for the comment. The party (event) is open until Feb 20th so you have time to come up with something… love, sex, flirtations… your interpretation, your poem. Challenge yourself! It’ll be worth it ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Wow, Jeanne, way to start off my How Do I Love Thee Poetry Party. Your poem is truly beautiful and such a unique, unexpected topic. You had me smiling the whole way through. Of course, being that I am reconnecting with my first love in romantic ways right now, how can I not smile, right? LOL.

So glad you’ve joined my party. Be sure and let your friends and followers know they’re invited too! The more people who come to the party, the more fun and feedback we’ll get from our writing!

  5. Wow, this is cool! You inspiring, upbeat blogger, you! I’ll try and write a poem tomorrow (when I’m bored with work crunching numbers) and keep trying til I get an acceptable one before the 20th, okay? ๐Ÿ™‚ And maybe I’ll have to resurrect my twitter account, too? It’s been dead for about 2 years. LOL

    1. I just started twitter the other day. I think that must be where the numbers push will come from. If I learn to use it wisely and not become addicted to it like a stupid FB game!

I am excited to see how love and lemons will fit together… Ha ha ha! Thanks for joining my event! I am already excited about future poetry events I’ll do. And this event is not, as yet, successful. But, your little turtle and the hare have me, at least for now, in a never-give-up state of mind!

I’ve been trying to write poetry my entire life, and always with miserable success — even from my own rose-colored glasses! It wasn’t until I started this blog that I’ve actually written any poems I would deem as successful aka acceptable! So this event is really a challenge for me too. I hope that in time, it will help everyone discover more and more about themselves, their writing abilities, and each other!

  6. Yeah, I don’t think I’m doing the twitter thing right.

I think twitter will be something I’ll need in-person personal tutoring on!

Because when I do a search for the hashtag I’ve been using and asking everyone else to use, it only shows as being used once, when I know that personally I’ve used it about 7 times. UGH.

  7. Can we share directly here or would you just rather the blog tag through wordpress?

    1. Hi Jarrod, great question.

I am not sure where you mean when you say, โ€œdirectly here.โ€ To join the party you click the blue button at the bottom of the post fill in the two blanks and wah-lah, you have joined the party and people from all over the web can find you, not just those on wordpress.

Eager to see what youโ€™ve got!

If you need more help, please ask! This will be a repeating monthly event but the themes will always change.

LOL…. you just taught me something Jarrod! I replied to your comment 3 hours ago but did not hit the reply button. So you didn’t know. This is good because it will make the comment numbers more accurate, I think. We’ll see ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I was referencing “here” as posting our poem into the comments section.

I clicked on the blue link and see the rules but I don’t see where I can add the two links you discussed. I’m sorry I am so confused. I’d really like to participate.

      2. Jarrod, no apology needed. I’ll try and get it to do on my end what it is doing on your end so I can help you with it. Should have only taken a few seconds of your time to accomplish the submission. Did you scroll down past the rules and see the other entries thus far?

You only have to do the first box and the third box, if I remember correctly. I’ve only done it once myself!

Let me know how it goes. I’m so sorry it’s being fussy for you!

  8. I had someone else try it and it is giving them the same result. Maybe the website is under maintenance. I will try again tomorrow.

    2. Jarrod, it should be working now! When I enabled the voting feature it disabled the linkup feature. So now voting will not begin until the 18th. I’ve put in another question to figure out if there is a way to make them coincide at the same time (maybe I have to pay for a premium account, don’t know). Thanks for your patience and letting me know!!!

      1. You are welcome. I just clicked on the blue frog again and it is now working as you said. There is now a box that says “Add Link.” Thanks for making the efforts to check on it. I will be posting something soon as I look forward to participating.

    1. Dang. Thank you! I will put in a ticket this morning. I will post again when I think the problem has resolved. It may take 24 hours from the time I put the ticket in for inlinkz to resolve it, though.
