Perfect Day

perfect dayToday is the perfect day
The sweet scent in the air
The warm breeze kissing my skin
Fine ripples casting playful shadows on the pool floor
All the right songs, all the right feelings
The caressing touches of your hand against my cheek
Your fingers running through my hair
The smile that spreads across your lips
And the dimples that deepen when I say your name
All of my senses are alert, alive
Your embrace, your kiss
Your voice, your eyes
Today is the perfect day

I met a young lady late last night,

She was as brunette as she could be,

With the most piercing green eyes I’ve ever seen,

I extended my hand to ask her name,

With a snicker and a giggle she told me,

”Whatever you want it to be”,

I could sense it was all part of a game,

With a wink, she informed me if I had some money,

She would allow me to call her “honey”,

And with a wicked smile, asked me if I’d like to join her in a drink,

With a reach of my hand, she gave it a squeeze,

To me, she seemed like the ultimate tease,

With a sparkle in her eye and a smirk on her face,

She asked my story: where I came from, what I’ve done,

Things like, who am I seeing and what I hoped I would become,

When the drinks were gone and the talking done,

She slammed down her glass,

“I hope I see you again someday”, she whispered, with a little sass,

Turned and began to walk away,

As I watched the sway of her hips,

She turned once more puckering her red devilish lips,

A smirking grin spread across her face,

She squinted her gleaming emerald eyes at me,

And said her name was spelled “T – R – O – U – B – L –E. “

First Love: Revisited

My last relationship post was about the definition of love and what it means to me. I began this blog as a way of healing to overcome the heartbreak of a relationship tossed away; the loss of love due to the passing away of my father; and the loss of my only child preparing to move out on his own for the first time. Flirting With Disaster

Throw a snowing night out there and...Why do we flirt with disaster?  Why do some of the smartest, sweetest, kindest women fall for “bad boys”?  I mean, we know perfectly well that both of those things only lead to heartache, heartbreak and what’s that third thing?  Oh, yeah, right… fun!
