Yesterday I posted that I was looking forward to a brighter year in 2016 and now here I am making it happen. I joined the Color Your World Challenge posted by Jennifer Nichole Wells. You can sign up your intention at this link: Color Your World sign up.
The Color your World challenge will run January through April each year, for 120 days, with a new Crayola color topic posting each day. Join in daily, or post at your leisure.
Enter your photos, drawings, quotes, poems, stories, anything, as long as it has to do with the color of the day.
This is really my type of challenge. It’s creative and exciting but I don’t have to commit to a long-term relationship. I’ve been wanting an excuse to start taking more photographs myself. I am hoping to buy an actual camera later this year but for now, like every other American, I have my cell phone!
Also, Jennifer has posted a calendar of colors, the color chart guide (with codes for internet!) being a few days in I see that the photos do not have to be an exact match, and that’s good.
Jan 1: Almond
Jan 2: Antique Brass
Here’s mine:
So you see it’s definitely not the same color as the sample image which Crayola dubbed Antique Brass. However, everyone has a good idea of what antique brass means. We’ve all seen those old fake brass plates on our grandparents’ walls or at the very least in thrift stores. In fact, one participant of this challenge took a photo of exactly that for this color so I feel justified in submitting mine. I did however check the color palate to see if it would fit another color for the future. It didn’t match any of those either so, here it is. I like it, I hope you do too. Tell me what you think in the comments section at the bottom of the page!
Jan 3: Apricot
Jan 4: Aquamarine
So that’s it, days 1-4 of the color challenge. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do all of them but I sure had fun with this post. Jennifer has all kinds of cool things on her site so you should really check it out thoroughly!
Errata sheet:
I misspelled Jennifer’s middle name wrong throughout this post it is Nichole with an H. I cannot change the text on the images but the links do work, all you have to do is click the images.

No worries about the name, I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out 🙂 Love your interpretation here – some great images. And yes, Crayola’s version of Antique Brass seems off to me too. Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing to the challenge!

Well, I figured I should point it out because the typewritten url address I gave them would go nowhere. But clicking the images goes to your site so probably not a big deal.

I seem to remember the actual antique brass crayon being overly waxy and coloring unevenly. Or maybe that was bronze? IDK. I like how you interpreted the challenges so far. I am sure you know already, when in doubt, I just go for whatever so I say do whatever the word inspires you to if you can’t find the exact color! 😀

Now that I’ve accomplished the first I feel more open to being “OPEN” about it. LOL. Right now all I can think about is running to the store to by asparagus. But that’s not creative. I’ll figure it out. Later today I will be posting from Jennifer’s topic generator inspired . I’m just waiting for my camera to download the image to dropbox so I can start editing it!
