Hi minions and newcomers, I sure hope you are enjoying this Color Your World challenge. I know I am digging it! LOL.   It is still the first week of the challenge so you certainly have time to jump in and participate from the beginning (not that you cannot just jump in whenever you decide to, because you can!).  Just click the image above to be taken to the challenge!

I started late and ended up catching up right away. But then I decided that I liked grouping the different colors together so that is how I’ve decided to go about this challenge.  For the first installment check out my post 120 Days of Crayola where I have highlighted the colors for Jan 1-4 on a challenge running into April.

For Words Crush Wednesday I shared a wonderful Brad Paisley quote we’d all do great in remembering in the post Happy New Year! I think I have managed to post everyday so far this week and as you all know I won’t keep to this pace, but I do feel like I am having a great start to the year and am enjoying a sense of invigoration.

Now, onto the colors!

Jan 5: Asparagus Green

120 Days of Crayola Colors

120-days-of-color-badge

Yesterday I posted that I was looking forward to a brighter year in 2016 and now here I am making it happen. I joined the Color Your World Challenge posted by Jennifer Nichole Wells. You can sign up your intention at this link: Color Your World sign up.

The Color your World challenge will run January through April  each year, for 120 days, with a new Crayola color topic posting each day. Join in daily, or post at your leisure.

Enter your photos, drawings, quotes, poems, stories, anything, as long as it has to do with the color of the day.

This is really my type of challenge. It’s creative and exciting but I don’t have to commit to a long-term relationship.  I’ve been wanting an excuse to start taking more photographs myself. I am hoping to buy an actual camera later this year but for now, like every other American, I have my cell phone!

Also, Jennifer has posted a calendar of colors, the color chart guide (with codes for internet!) being a few days in I see that the photos do not have to be an exact match, and that’s good.

Jan 1: Almond

Jan 2: Antique Brass

So you see it’s definitely not the same color as the sample image which Crayola dubbed antique brass. However, everyone has a good idea of what antique brass means.  We’ve all seen those old fake brass plates on our grandparents’ walls or at the very least in thrift stores.  In fact, someone took a picture of exactly that for this color challenge so I feel justified in submitting mine.  I did however check the color palate to see if it would fit another color for the future. It didn’t match any of those either so, here it is. I like it, I hope you do to.  Tell me what you think in the comments section at the bottom of the page!

Jan 3: Apricot

So that’s it, days 1-4 of the color challenge.  I don’t know if I’ll be able to do all of them but I sure had fun with this post.  Jennifer has all kinds of cool things on her site so you should really check it out thoroughly!

Errata sheet:

I misspelled Jennifer’s middle name wrong throughout this post it is Nichole with an H.  I cannot change the text on the images but the links do work, all you have to do is click the images.

Doorstep Pumpkin Challenge!

Doorstep Pumpkin Challenge! | Memee's Musings

We love Halloween! Candy, Costumes, and Carvings (parties, pranks, and pumpkins) what’s not to love?

I recently moved in with a family so that I could nanny for them while I am studying for my degree. Their favorite television shows all rotate around cooking, while I prefer the remodeling shows. Funny, because you couldn’t have paid me to watch This Old House, which by the way is in its 35th season! I guess Pinterest is to blame for my desire to learn all I can about DIY home improvement despite my not having a home.  I do however have a lot of home decorations I like to put out for holidays. For example I like to change my welcome mat with each season or holiday.

Speaking of welcoming people, what welcomes people at Halloween better than hand-carved pumpkins?  What with my broken elbow I won’t be doing any carving myself this year. And so I challenge all of Memee’s Minion Army to pick up the slack, and carve pumpkins — maybe one for me even — and pingback your creations to this article so that I can enjoy your work and reward one lucky minion with a super special trickertreat’n surprise!

Oh, and to get you in the mood, you might watch The Food Networks TV show which I do enjoy Halloween Wars, newly discovered by me but currently in its 5th season. The only show on television where a cake master, a candymaker, and a pumpkin carver come together with silly team names to create masterful edible Halloween masterpieces.
