Have you joined the LinkUp?

Have you joined the LinkUp | Memee's MusingsTime is running out for linking up with your fellow poets currently challenging themselves to the topic of success.

Submit Now!

Are you confused about how to find the party?  It’s easy. At the top of every post are the menus for my blog. Hover your cursor over Memee’s Poetry Parties (which would take you to an informative page if clicked) and a new menu item opens entitled “current party.”  Click on current party.  If there is an active party going on that’s where you’ll find the theme, the relevant dates and the submit wormhole that will take you to the linkup.

This button will also take you and your followers to the linkup during the voting window. Though when it comes to getting your followers to the linkup so they can read the poems and vote for their favorite I’d suggest just making it easy for them and give them the LinkUp url. (You know, the one in your address bar after you’ve arrived.)

Voting begins on the 25th so get your poems in right away or you’ll miss out on getting those votes! Not to mention — okay, I am mentioning — the feedback of your fellow poets.

The Bible
English Standard Version
Matthew 6:25-33 ESV

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”

I hope to see you at the punch bowl!

Dear Reflection

As September was Suicide Prevention Month and our family lost someone the last week of August to suicide I felt that we should explore this topic with our poetry. Writing heals. And talking, sharing our thoughts with others keeps things from becoming taboo subjects. If we talk about it then perhaps people who are feeling hopeless and lost and are thinking of suicide may find the courage to speak up and ask for help. I know that if our loved one had shared his feelings we would have done whatever we could to help him to heal and perhaps we could have saved his life. And so the #ASKFORHELP Poetry Party came into being.

Dear Reflection was voted favorite poem from this very challenging theme. So take a read and head over to author and poet Laura A Lord’s website and give her some feedback. And tell her Memee sent you! Continue reading

Last Chance… Do it now!

So it is Wednesday once again. My minions know that Wednesdays mean the Words Crush Wednesday challenge; however, this Wednesday also coincides with the end of September’s #askforhelp challenge at #Memeespoetryparties happening monthly. Today is your last chance to cast your vote for favorite poem this month. There are prizes to be won and the poets need your help to win the acclaim they desire… not to mention hear from you your thoughts on their writing.

We are all writers and bloggers looking for connections, inspiration, friendly critique, and recognition.  So give this month’s party participants your love by heading over to Memee’s punchbowl where you will discover the finalists in this month’s poetry challenge.

It is so easy to do and takes no time at all! Just click the thumbnail of the poems you want to read. A new tab opens their submission on their blog where you can read and comment, like or follow them. When you have done all you want to do on their site just close the tab and you’re back at Memee’s punchbowl. Repeat until you’ve either read all of the finalists’ submissions or until you are ready to vote. (one vote per person)

Voting takes place at Memee’s punchbowl and it is as simple as clicking the heart atop the thumbnail of your winning poem. That’s it, you’ve voted and made someone very happy!

And so, having said all of that, go vote right now! Voting ends tonight at 23:55 PST.

5 Reasons to join the #ASKFORHELP poetry challenge!

#askforhelp | Memee's Musings
Anonymous suicide prevention hotlines are available in most countries.
  1. Speak out!  Keeping quiet, keeping secrets keeps things taboo.  Let’s not make suicide a topic we’re afraid to talk about.  Sometimes just letting other people know you’re open to talking, is enough to save a life.
  2. Delve deep into your own psyche… what lurks under your conscious thoughts in regard to suicide?
  3. Get the word out and help raise awareness. It is, after all, Suicide Prevention Month!
  4. Challenge and push your poetic boundaries.
  5. Connect with other poets who may positively inspire you.

Submission deadline is September 24th. Submit now!

Voting begins on the 25th, so get your followers to vote for you at the link-up, voting will conclude at 23:55 PST on September 30th. Vote now!

Sweet Vengence | Memee's Poetry Parties

Never have I hated someone, Measured up to this magnitude, Putting all my vileness upon, Cringing at her disgusted attitude. I want to rip her mask off, Uncover the ugliness, Show the world what she’s made of, Atrocity in what she does. I waited for the right moment, Pouncing at the chance of revenge, Let her writhe in atonement, Denied of a second chance. Triumphed over my victory, Total defeat she conceded, She has learnt ultimately in misery, For my vengeance has succeeded.

Linking up: It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3!

I love it when I see people linking up to my linky parties!

So you like the idea of my poetry party but think it is probably beyond your scope of ability to actually participate. The truth is, in fact, that it is remarkable easy to add a link, but extremely time consuming to put a linky party together and spread the word around, which is why I feel thankful for every single link brought to my punchbowl each month.  I get an email telling me when a new link has been added and I feel a burst of excitement and an energetic surge of satisfaction knowing that I am helping them to find new, inspiring blogging friends, increased traffic and, I hope, it generates an excitement in them as well.

You see, I find there are a ton of people writing poetry on the Internet but no real spot where they can come together and meet, share and inspire one another. And that is the hole I have been trying to fill ever since.  Please take a look at this wonderful infographic made my Rhondaa over at Oombawka Design. It shows you all there is too linking up: You add the link to your post, you supply your email address, and you choose your thumbnail. It’s that simple!  Continue reading
